Hydrolysis is understood as the breaking down of a component upon reacting with water, vapour or humidity. Among the different thermoplastics, PVC is relatively more resistant to water and performs well in applications where water is present.
Although Polyurethane is an excellent product against animal fats and vegetable oils, it tends to degrade irreversibly under high humidity and temperature. It also reacts negatively to washing, especially with hot water and steam.
Our PU PREMIUM belts in the CLINA-P and NOVAK-P series as well as our PU mesh belts WASHFLOW are formulated with an anti-hydrolysis property to make them more resistant to hydrolytic degradation compared to standard polyurethane belts.
